Maharaja Sir Kishen Pershad was a symbol of Hindu-Muslim unity in Hyderabad under the Nizams. He held the position of Prime Minister of Hyderabad State twice, firstly under Mir Mahboob Ali Khan, Nizam VI from from 1900-1912 and then under Mir Osman Ali Khan, Nizam VII from 1926-1937. He was given the title of Yamin us Saltanat (Right Hand of the Ruler) by Nizam VII.

Born in 1864, he died in 1940 at Hyderabad. He traced his lineage back to Raja Todar Mal, the finance minister of Emperor Akbar. His father was Raja Hari Kishen and his maternal grandfather was Raja Narendra Pershad Bahadur. He inherited the position of Peshkar (Secretary) to the Nizam from his father and maternal grandfather. The famous Maharaja Chandulal was the grandfather of Raja Narendra Pershad and thus great great grandfather of Maharaja Kishan Pershad.

Maharaja Kishen Pershad had 3 Hindu and 4 Muslim wives and the children followed the religion of their mothers.
